Eight strategies will be developed to achieve the goal of sustainable manufacturing, based on modelling, simulating and forecasting the behaviour of component/ machine and system processes and resources.

• PREDICT – Prediction of operation based on evidences.
• DIAGNOSE - Early detection of current or emerging failure.
• PREVENT - Prevention of failure occurrence, building up, or even propagation within the production system.
• ESIMATE - Estimation of remaining useful life (RUL) of assets.
• MANAGE - Management of the afore-mentioned strategies through modelling, KPI (key performance indicators) monitoring and real-time decision support.
• ASSESS - Analysis of severity of failures per component type.
• DETECT - Detection of design characteristics.
• REDESIGN - Provision of feed-back for the design performance and failures leading to refurbishment, remanufacturing, upgrade and repair action.
