The Brno University of Technology (Vysoke Uceni Technicke v Brne - VUT) is a public university founded in 1899 and is the second oldest and also largest technical university in the Czech Republic. The Institute of Production Machines, Systems and Robotics (IPMSR) was founded in 1966 as the Department of Machine Tools and Forming Machines at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, gradually expanded and nowadays is divided into six departments specializing in production machines; robotics and robots; automatic manipulation; production systems and virtual reality; electrotechnics; quality, reliability and safety. The Institute represents an interdisciplinary research platform that is implemented within the NETME Centre (http://netme.cz) focusing on the following topics: Machine and Equipment Design, Machine Safety, Machine Accuracy, Robotization and Automation of Production Systems, Mechatronics, Database Systems, Machine Diagnostics, Machine Maintenance, Metrology Industry 4.0.
